In August 2022 we made an extensive road trip from Windhoek, Namibia to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe to photograph some of the fascinating birds and other wildlife of this spectacular part of Africa. The journey took us through a wide range of habitats and physical environments, including the Namib desert, the coast at Walvis Bay, the Erongo Mountains, the famous Etosha National Park and finally the spectacular Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe.
Our trip was organised by the South African companyLawson Safaris, which runs private and small group birding and wildlife tours in various parts of Southern Africa. Our excellent guide was the very knowledgeable Leon Marais who also did the driving for this extensive trip. The route we took and the places we stayed are shown on the map below.
