We spent the final night of the tour in Salta and then did some birding the following morning before the group members flew home in the afternoon. For this final session we visited the village of Palonitas, which allowed us to discover birds in the Dry Chaco ecosystem.
After a very successful few hours around Palonitas we drove to Salta airport and members of the group began their journeys home. We flew to Buenos Aires and stayed at a hotel near the airport before flying back to the UK the following morning.
Looking back, this was a very good birding trip during which we photographed 308 species of which 113 were lifers. This was a good number as one of us had already been to Argentina before and done some birding around Buenos Aires.
