The colourful birds in the family Paradisaeidae are mainly found in Papua New Guinea and eastern Indonesia, although Victoria’s Riflebird occurs in eastern Australia. This bird gets its named from the similarity of its black velvety plumage to the uniform of the British Army Rifle Brigade.
