Butterflies are winged insects with large often brightly-coloured wings that have a wide distribution, being found on all continents except Antarctica. Over 18,500 species of butterfly have been identified to date, with most being found in tropical and sub-tropical latitudes. We have photographed butterflies on many of our overseas and UK trips, and frequently in our garden and have a growing collection of butterfly photographs that we present split into those taken in the UK and overseas.
