The cuculidae family includes the European Cuckoo, roadrunners, koels, malkohas, coucals and anis. They have a wide distribution, although most are found in the tropics with some species being migratory.

Sub-family Centropodinae. Coucals are Old World cuckoos found across Africa and Asia. Unlike most species, the smaller male provides most of the parental care. The Green-billed Coucal is endemic to Sri Lanka.
